10,000 Shows to Connect the Unreachables in Bihar

An episodic interactive theatre based campaign of 10,000 shows was held across 8 districts of Bihar targeting Mahadalit communities to spread awareness about maternal and child health. It was one of our most successful endeavors in reaching out to the isolated communities and triggering behavior change through theatre. The initiative was part of Project ANANYA of Bill Gates Foundation. BBC Media Action designed a 360 degree campaign. We undertook the design and implementation of the grassroots campaign to ensure amplification of the communication efforts to the last mile. Around 30 theatre groups and 150 local coordinators were involved. The challenge was to reach out to the underserved marginalized communities in inaccessible pockets of the region. The campaign witnessed a positive change in behaviour as the same team reached out every time with a new story that communicated the key points.
