5th Terracotta craft festival at Panchmura in Bankura district

The 5th Terracotta Mela at Panchmura village in Bankura district was held between November 4 and 6, 2018. This festival has evolved into a landmark one of the region, celebrating the vintage traditional craft of fired clay that the district is historically famous for. Led by the artists’ collective in Panchmura, the festival displayed wonderful Terracotta creations by the artists, even as more than 10,000 visitors made it a huge success. They went around the village, purchased Terracotta works, interacted with the artists and enjoyed the ambience of festivities. Evening performances by folk artists on each day of the Mela was a special attraction. The Mela enjoyed favorable media coverage that also highlighted the G.I. status of Bankura’s Terracotta art.
